A Winter Fuel Payment is a tax-free payment for older people.
Winter Fuel Payment is paid every year over the winter months to help with your fuel costs. However, you can choose how you use the money.

A Winter Fuel Payment is an annual tax-free payment made to eligible people aged 60 or over to help towards their winter heating costs. People aged 80 or over are paid an extra amount. It is a lump sum and in most cases is paid automatically, but some people will need to claim.
You could get between £100 and £300 tax-free to help pay your heating bills if you were born on or before 5 January 1952. This is known as a ‘Winter Fuel Payment’.
